Additional Needs / Student Assist Programme

Please visit the Additional Needs wiki on http://nantysenco.wikispaces.com where you can find many useful links with leaflets on how do deal with everything from birth to supporting teenagers.

The next S.A.P. session will start in September and run for about 8 weeks. If your child has been invited to attend you can find more information on the wiki site (for students and parents). Click the link or go to http://nantysenco.wikispaces.com and look for the Support group section. We have just completed another successful SAP program and will be running another one in January.

Thanks Parents

MANY THANKS to those who provided information which has led to the arrest of the people who are suspected of causing damage and stealing from the school. This sends a clear message that we work together and you will not stand by and see your children go without because of the actions of others. Thanks again.

Donations

We are so lucky to have kind friends of the school. Many thanks to:
Conor Williams' parents who donated 11 football shirts.
Tesco's for donating gift vouchers.
Jones & Skinner for paint.
Spanners Scaffolding for sports kit.

If you would like to make a donation of any kind and have a mention on the site please contact us.

Neath/Port Talbot College

Neath Port Talbot College Students under the direction of Mr Richards and Mr Morgan have been doing a tremendous job in the bottom yard removing the old shelter. The students are all doing NVQ's in building maintenance and have been given quite a few challenges to improve the outside environment for us.

They have taken pride in their work and our neighbours in Garnwen Terrace have commented on how much better the area looks.

They have also removed the rusted sheets from the other shelter, made good the timber then recovered it with box profile sheets in the next phase of the renovations.

They have also be doing some health and safety work inside (filling in the old mat wells which could be a health and safety risk in the event of a fire. I am sure that the end result will be as good as what we have seen so far.

The boys and girls of the college will help us level the new storage container for P.E. equipment. This will mean that the girls can have more room for their coats and bags (as they will have the space being used for P.E. kit now). If you see them working outside and think they have done a good job then feel free to tell them - your encouragement will be appreciated.

Work is going on in the yards at the moment so please DO NOT ALLOW your child to go into the yards during the holiday period and the nights as they may be putting themselves in danger.

The windows to the front and side of the school have been replaced and to make life more comfortable for the children a reflective film has been put on the windows to control the amout of heat and light coming in from the sun.

 Our children

We are pleased to inform you that the setting in the junior school is working extremely well, not only raising standards in mathematics and English, but it has also been recognised that the pupil's self esteem and well-being has improved. We will of course continue to monitor the impact of any changes we make to ensure all the needs of all our pupils are met.

"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it
will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."
Albert Einstein

In other words we strive as a school to identify the abilities and talents of all our pupils and to build on these, giving every child the opportunity to shine. I f we feel your child has a particular gift we will share this with you  so arrangements can be made to nurture their talent.
